1. How can I confirm my application was received?
We do not currently confirm receipt of applications. If you would like to confirm receipt, please contact us by email at info@farefund.ca.
2. How are loan decisions made?
FARE's Board of Directors has appointed a selection committee that meets regularly to review and decide upon received applications.
If your 180 day deadline is fast approaching, please ensure that your application is marked URGENT and that your deadline is clearly indicated. The selection committee will endeavour to make decisions on urgent applications prior to your deadline.
3. How quickly can I expect a decision?
As set out above, if your deadline is fast approaching, the selection committee will endeavour to make a decision prior to your deadline.
In non-urgent cases, you should expect to receive a decision on your application in 3 to 4 weeks. All applicants will be informed of the decision, whether it is positive or negative.
4. How will I be informed of the decision?
Once a decision is made, you will be informed by telephone.
5. What form does the loan take? Do I receive a cheque?
No, you do not receive a cheque for the amount of the processing fee.
If the loan is granted, FARE will pay the government processing fee on your behalf and will issue you a paid Citizenship and Immigration Canada fee receipt as proof of payment. You should include this fee receipt with your permanent residence application.
6. How do I get the fee receipt?
We will make individualized arrangements with you once your application has been approved.
7. If the loan is granted, what are the repayment terms?
FARE requires a minimum repayment of $25 per month.
A loan repayment agreement must be signed by the applicant prior to receiving the paid fee receipt, which will set out the precise terms of repayment.
